With its largely unspoiled countryside and picturesque market towns, Shropshire stands out as a predominantly rural county. Yet, beyond its natural beauty, Shropshire boasts an impressive historical and cultural heritage. In this 5-day tour we will spend a day in Ironbridge visiting its museums and learning about its past as one of the world's great iron-making centres. By contrast on the other days we will aim to cover other aspects of Shropshire's rich cultural heritage, visitIng several stately homes, a fortified manor house, Chirk Castle and Powis Castle and gardens, on the Welsh Borders. We will also have a guided tour of Shrewsbury and time to visit Ludlow.
We will be staying in a 4-star hotel in Shrewsbury, on a half-board basis, and all fees are gratuities are paid for.
Booking is now open, until the end of October. Booking forms can be obtained from me at every meeting.
